this one is kind of fun. i came up with a little chord
pattern that i liked a while ago, so i made a tune out
of it by doing an AABA format (writing a little bridge
for the B part and using the original pattern for the A).
i 'played' (i.e. 'musically typed') on garage band a
bass-line that would fit over the progression, and then
'played' (musically typed) drums over that. then i recorded
myself comping (playing chords) over the whole thing. then
i played the garage band output and recorded what my speakers
were putting out into audacity (because garage band outputs in
m4a and i don't have an m4a-->mp3 converter). i did a little
extra thing (a tip of the hat to NARDS for this move) where i
took the original drum beat alone and sped it up 2x and laid it
over the track to give it a little extra something to the drum
beat. then i recorded a guitar solo over the whole thing...
since it was longer than i wanted, i sped the whole thing up a bit
and faded everything out. and here's the output! (i may or may not
put this track in this format on an album -- i.e. i may just go
ahead and throw it on there, or i may do further editing and/or
record a new soloing, or i may just pitch the whole thing.)
enjoy!
